Finally, I can introduce you to what is perhaps one of my most favorite bands under the radar here in the States - The Sunshine Underground. As their name implies, they are indeed a rare find. I first heard of the group through watching The Sauce on Fuse. The show has many awkward moments between the musicians and the hosts where all they can do is laugh nervously. However, you can find some great information on the show about tour dates and up-and-coming bands. Perhaps I'll write a blog about that show by itself. Whatever; I digress. The guests for one of the episodes were none other than Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint ('Harry' and 'Ron' from Harry Potter) who discussed the new movie's release and such. I groaned, thinking Fuse was swiftly becoming another MTV. But then one of the more decent hosts asked Grint about his musical tastes. What a novel idea. Grint had mentioned The Sunshine Underground's song, 'Put You In Your Place'. I had never heard of it before, so I jumped at the thought of listening to something other than Three Days Grace for the third week in a row. I was positively, absolutely stunned by the track. It's perfect in the sense that it has flaws pleasing to the ear - if that makes any sense. What I'm saying is... as opposed to half of the songs out there, it actually sounded as if someone had written and recorded it. It's raw, it's edgy, and most importantly, it speaks of something most of us have experienced. I hope you enjoy the video below as much as I did. |
